Battling dry skin is a constant challenge for me, especially in the colder months. At its worst, it can leave me itching and miserable. I have therefore attempted to educate myself about the most effective ways to keep my skin moisturized and comfortable. Preventing dry skin is easy. Too hot or hot air, low humidity, frequent contacts with water or detergent solution destroy protective layer and the skin loses its natural ability to retain moisture. With decreasing levels of water content of 10% skin becomes dry and starts to peel off.

Licking your lips will not moisturize them and instead will help dry them out. Lips retain less moisture than other parts of the body, so they tend to dry out more quickly. A simple lip balm helps.

Exercise increases blood flow and thus the supply of oxygen and nutrients to your skin. These factors help skin look dewy and firm, undermining dry skins brittle stiffness.
